1) Mapusa Market
What is your regular, run-of-the-mill market for the greater part of the week, Mapusa market comes into its own and dazzles on Fridays. Bust out your hats, sunglasses, and bargaining skills and go for a stroll along the winding roads of the Mapusa market on a bright Friday morning and we promise you won’t be disappointed. Mapusa market boasts items ranging from antiques, Goan pottery, handicrafts, dried and fresh fish, spices, homemade pickles, fruits, vegetables, chorizo’ sausages, textiles, clothing, jewellery and so much more. In case you need a moment’s respite from all the shopping, the several small eateries lining the market roads have you covered.
2) Saturday Night Market at Arpora
Arguably Goa’s signature flea market, the Saturday Night Market is open from November through April. Boasting a thoroughly hippy vibe, the Saturday Night Market is as quaint as it is expansive. Offering spices, carpets, embroidered textiles, hammocks, clothes, and accessories, this market will keep you hooked for hours on end. To top it off, there are often live music events happening in the background which just lends to the vibe.
3) Panjim Market
Perfect for those wishing to experience the essence of Goa, Panjim market is replete with a variety of local stores selling a plethora of local offerings like wines, cashew nuts, local handicrafts, and Goan spices. Bustling with life and colour, it is also home to a large number of eateries.
4) Calangute Market Square
You say “flea market” and most Goans will immediately think of the Calangute market square. Showcasing a colourful lineup of beach-side shacks and stalls, the Calangute market square sells everything from trendy clothes to beachwear, handicrafts, leather products, souvenirs, sea shells, jewellery, carpets, metal crafts, and trinkets, with several eateries popping up along the road.
5) Mackie’s Night Bazaar
Held along the banks of the Baga river every Saturday (from November till May), with its little stalls selling antiques, junk jewellery, clothes, beachwear, souvenirs, and handicrafts, along with local eateries, Mackie’s is just the perfect place to unwind at come Saturday evening.
